Montana de Luz began as a hospice in Honduras that nurtured kids with HIV/AIDS to gracefully journey through their last days. Due to the excellent care and medication provided by the organization, the children have been able to live longer and healthier lives. The organization is no longer known as a hospice but now it has become an orphanage.  The kids of Montana de Luz are energetic, loving, playful and just simply amazing. Eastern Nazarene College has been partnering with Montana de Luz for the past two years and the experience has been life changing for our students.  During our time at the orphanage the team engages in various projects and activities needed by the orphanage and surrounding community.

The most rewarding time of the experience is playing and interacting with the children.  Watching them smile, jump, and laugh is the sole inspiration for the trip. May God continue to bless us with more loving souls that are willing to journey with us as we continue to bless and be blessed by Montana de Luz.

In Haiti we will be joining our hosts, Pastor Martinez and his wife Emma, who will guide us the following day to our remote village where we will reside for the week.

Our journey is all about living, learning, and experiencing life in Marbial. We will be working on expanding the church building. As you know, the church is usually the center of the village, so helping to complete the expansion will be a great boost to the local ministry!

Marbial is an amazing place, on market day we will follow the river about 1 1/2 miles to the marketplace watching and experiencing first hand the life of the community. The people have so much to teach us about culture, life, and creativity in the midst of difficulties.

We will fly from Port-au-Prince to Jacmel and then drive to Marbial (crossing the same river 33 times). There will be no showers, running water, email and very minimal electricity in Marbial. In Port-au-Prince there will be minimal electricity (they have a generator) running water (although you can't brush your teeth with it) and a shower.

Pastor & Emma Martinez are thrilled and excited to know that there are college students who want to come to Marbial, Haiti to give and receive from the people. They anticipate we will have an exceptional trip.
