Team Leaders

Rachel Pitot                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  After graduating from ENC in 2002 with a degree in Social Work, I headed for Haiti to learn more about the people, language and culture…that was nearly 6 years ago and I still get excited every time I step foot in the country where there are mountains beyond mountains! My first experience in Haiti led me to come back to the US to study nursing. Not long after my first trip to Haiti I joined the board of Partners With Haiti, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping our Haitian brothers and sisters in need. I have returned to Haiti many times since my first trip in 2002 taking with me different types of work/witness and medical teams. I have had the privilege to travel around the country and am very excited about the 2008 Fusion trip to Marbial, Haiti. We will be going into a remote area, which has remained untouched by technology and modern conveniences (indoor plumbing, electricity)! Hurricane Noel also hit this area recently so our upcoming visit will help the local economy. I am employed as a Registered Nurse and will be working in the medical clinic with a few students.

 Gerson Semedo

Hello, my name is Gerson Semedo and I am the coordinator for the Fusion Program. I am always excited to take students oversees and allow them to immerse themselves in a culture different from their own. I know that the process is demanding and revolutionary and develops greater awareness within the individual. Being abroad allows me to understand God in a different context and value the relationships developed in the process. I am excited to explore Haiti and learn from the people whom we will be living with. May God’s hands be with us as we allow ourselves to be molded in the process.

 Fundraising

Each student is responsible for raising their own funds for the trip. As an organization, we train students in developing support partners that will encourage and help subsidize the cost of the trip. We want each partner to journey with us in the process and celebrate the accomplishments of the team.  This website was built specifically to include all our partners in every step of the way. We want you to get acquainted with the program, the teams and even our international partners.  Fell free to leave us your ideas and a word of encouragement in our “Guestbook” page.

Amount to raise as a Team: $16,250.00

Amount raised as of Feb 11, 2008: $9535.00

Amount left to raise: $,6715.00

Ways You Can Support:

There are three ways in which you can help support our team as we prepare for our journey:

      1. You can be an encourager.

As an encourager you commit to sending cards or emails to the team letting us know that you are supporting and praying for the success of the trip and the growth of each member. Also, you commit in sharing about the program to others so that our support basis can grow.

Visit our “contacts” page for address and email information

 2. You can support the program financially

All donations to the program will be directed to help subsidize the cost of each team and purchase materials for the project. If you have a close relations with one of our team members and would like to donate specifically to them, that is also possible.  Please remember that all gifts are Tax deductible and that you will receive a receipt acknowledging your gift and the amount given as proof of your donation.  All checks are to be made payable to: Eastern Nazarene College or ENC, with the inclusion of “Fusion” on the memo line.
